Our Mission

With the two-fold aim of person building and community building, the Salesian Pastoral Youth Service accompanies young people towards the discovery of authentic life values. Through an optimistic view of life in the light of the Gospel, it seeks to develop and implement a programme of holistic Christian formation which enables the young to grow in friendship with the Lord and peace with the self and encourages them to reach out in a ministry to others.

Our Vision

SPYS aims at accompanying the young people towards the discovery of meaning in life and an awareness of Christ’s presence. This enables them to reach out to others and to be authentic witness of the Gospel message. The commitment to a ministry to others requires a holistic formation which helps the young person clarify his/her vision of life. A process of personal, social, spiritual and physical growth which leads to maturity is never complete.

Our Values

Multiculturalism

Multiculturalism enables people live their originality consciously and without authorization the other cultures. In this sense, multiculturalism is a cultural wealth for living together.

Diversity

Valuing diversity recognizes differences between people and acknowledges that these differences are a valued asset. This approach seeks to increase diversity awareness and sensitivities so that young people are prepared to take positive action with their peers.

Existence Of God

From our experience of motion in the universe we can see that there must have been an initial mover. We affirm the existence of god in our efforts towards any project we undertake.

Prayer and Reflection

Prayer is your conversation with God. Meditation can give you a sense of calm, peace and balance that can benefit both your emotional well-being. Reflective practice helps learners find relevancy and meaning in a lesson and make connections between educational experiences and real life situations.

Family

They provide us support, encouragement, love, a place we can return to. Family roots often extend beyond what we can see. Because our roots, our families, have experiences of their own, have life lessons that they are trying to impart on us.

Value Of Life

All life forms on this earth have an intrinsic value to the world. They are part of a whole. They are there for a purpose and their very existence fulfills that purpose. This is in the natural order of things.

Education

Education helps a person to get knowledge and improve confidence level all through the life. It plays a great role in our career growth as well as in the personal growth. It has no limitation; people of any age group can get education anytime.

Openness

Openness is important because it speaks to what people want and expect if they are to feel some sense of ownership and emotional connection to an organization or task at hand.

Kindness

As our kindness positively affects others, we feel more compassionate, confident, useful, and in control. One small act of compassion can make a significant impact on someone’s life, including your own.

Love

Love solidifies our desire to know we are compatible with another human beings, even if the relationship is on the friendship or familial level. It creates a sense of harmony in our existence.
